Is Pest Control In London Going Hi-Tech?

The pest control companies in London have evolved enormously in the past 10 years as a result of pesticide resistance, a shift in construction methods from traditional brick and mortar to the extensive use of Drywalls and partitions.

And with that came new solutions that relied on the specialized gear being adapted for the Pest Control industry. We had new sensor devices, new methods of treatment, and new computerized monitoring solutions.

The BIG HEAT: How to get rid of bed bugs using Green Tech Heat technology

Bed bugs have been harder and harder to get rid of because of multiple factors, but the main one was the lack of suitable chemicals to carry out the bed bug treatments. Also, because of uneven practice standards among pest control companies, the chemical treatments would actually end up selecting the stronger specimen.

From there, as the new population would build up afresh, the bed bug population would be much harder to bring down than the first time around. This is ever so true, as I had the opportunity to see the same property treated over and over again over so many years, that as you would do whatever you did, you would have no hope of getting any results at all using pesticides.

The solution is to carry out full heat treatment of the property. And since you cannot use gasoline and scratch a match, then you need to do it in a controlled fashion. Green Tech offered an innovative setup that is electrical and ideal to use in an environment where naked flames are not allowed.

There are powerful electric heaters relying on residences and feeding from the grid or from a generator to produce in excess of 9000W of heat. These are couples with fans that will help to distribute the heat evenly. By raising the temperature above 56 degrees Celsius of both the furniture, walls, and floor, you efficiently kill any adult bed bugs, nymphs,s, and eggs.

The critical innovation comes from the set of monitoring temperature probes that feeds back the information to the technician who can hence stand at a safe distance from the setup and ensure that the temperature reaches deep enough into the crease and cracks of the furniture

The use of laser and Infrared technology

You would think of a rodent as primitive and the solution being a sledgehammer to kill it off. But in some instances, the scenario is not straightforward, and the best solution may still elude you. This is an issue we encounter in some of the pest-proofing we carry out. The work is difficult and very expensive for the client. So what to do when despite so much work the clients still find mouse droppings inside the rooms.

With the advent of new generation infrared sensors and laser technology, we have now access to a number of devices that traditionally were used for capturing wildlife in the context of biological studies. The technology can not only be used as a background monitoring routine, but also as a specific tool to highlight how rodents may be accessing certain areas.

It also offers some extra benefits, as it records in High definitions the footage, you can observe in-situ how mice actually behave, and even how many and to what frequency they actually come out during the night.

Pest control specific CRM systems

Carrying out efficient pest treatment is only part of the task. As clients are ever so connected, there is a new need to have the information available instantly and at the tip of your fingers. Many CRM systems are available for pest control companies, Gorilla desk, and Big Changes being two of them. But they lack a powerful report maker option.

We resorted to actually build our own report maker using Gravity Forms and hosting it in our server. The technology is great but very soon, storage becomes an issue. Before we knew it the server was giving 505 errors due to having reached the full capacity of storage of our allocated server space.

As ever, we adapted and now have a routine that deleted old reports to free space. We do not lose the info but the pictures. The solution would have to compress the picture at the mobile level. But all the pest controllers have many other things to worry about. And adding a plug in to compress the JPG at the server level was not an option either.

The way forward is into solutions such as V-Tiger, PODIO, and ZOHO that are now reaching maturity with UK specific extensions and plug-in and offer full customization to fit the processes of any pest control companies. There is a catch though. The solution is good value, but the setup requires a programmer and an extensive amount of work so the final price tag ends up being quite a commitment.
