The second phase of the JEE examination is the JEE Advanced. It is conducted after the JEE Main exam. This test is very important for candidates seeking admission to premier institutions like IITs. This is a computer-based online exam. JEE Advanced was formerly known as IIT JEE.

The education minister has announced the exam date for the JEE Advanced. As per the information, IIT JEE 2021 will be conducted on 3rd July 2021. There is a revision in the eligibility criteria. The subjects covered for the exam are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The exam conducting authority is IIT Kharagpur. The test duration is 3 hours. This exam consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. It is conducted in two shifts. It is held on the same day.

In order to be eligible for the merit list, it is compulsory for all the students to appear for both papers. According to the ranks scored in JEE Advanced, students can apply to various undergraduate courses as well as masters and dual degree programs offered by IITs. There are 9 other institutions other than IITs, which provide admission for the students based on the JEE Advanced score. They are as follows.

    • IISC Bangalore
    • IISER Bhopal
    • IISER Kolkata
    • IISER Mohali
    • IISER Thiruvananthapuram
    • IISER Pune

From JEE Advanced 2020, students who qualify the entrance test will be eligible for admissions into IITs and other premier institutions irrespective of the class 12 marks that they score in their class 12 public exams. The admission criteria have been changed due to the class 12 board exams being canceled amid the pandemic.

Age relaxation is provided for reserved category candidates. The students can attempt the exam twice in 2 consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the qualifying exam.
